The (Thought Catcher) Program and Good Morals

The ACADEMION International Training Institute presented the (Thought CaptureOn Tuesday, the 8th of Ramadan in the year 1442 AH at exactly 10 PM, the guest of the program was Sheikh Abdullah bin Atta, presenter of the program from the vicinity of the Noble Sanctuary on the Voice of Islam radio and a board member of the Prisoners' Care Association, broadcasted live on YouTube from the ACADEMION International Training Institute.

The Sheikh clarified at the beginning of the thought that some may believe that the topic of morals is less important than acts of worship, thus giving all attention to worship, which is undoubtedly what is required of a Muslim, for man was created only to worship Allah. However, the aspect of morals is no less important than that of worship, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "I am a guarantor of a house in the outskirts of Paradise for the one who leaves arguing even if he is right, and a house in the middle of Paradise for the one who leaves lying even if he is joking, and a house in the highest part of Paradise for the one who has good character." Among the virtues of good morals is that they lead their possessor to Paradise. Following the example of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and striving for good character is no less important than worship, and two-thirds of religion relates to transactions, which are built on good morals.

The Sheikh mentioned that good morals are a reason for Allah Almighty's love for His servant, and Allah, the Exalted, mentioned many good morals in the Holy Quran, including His saying: (And Allah loves the patient)، (Indeed, Allah loves the just) all of which indicate the virtue of good morals and drawing closer to Allah through them is an act of worship.

The Sheikh pointed out that one of the reasons for the love of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is good morals, and noble morals weigh heavier on the scale than anything else, as he (peace be upon him) said: "There is nothing heavier on the scale than good character," and he said: "A man can attain through good character the ranks of the one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day.".

The sources of good morals are the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, and Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) described the noble Messenger by saying: "His character was the Quran" The Sheikh explained that morals are divided into two categories: innate morals and acquired morals. Innate morals arise with a person's nature from birth, and some are acquired from the surrounding environment. A person must avoid bad morals, such as anger, which leads to disputes, enmity, and severance, and must embody patience and forbearance.

The Sheikh also clarified that the characteristics of good morals are that they are enduring and eternal, suitable for all times and places, compatible with reason and logic, teach a person responsibility, foster self-regulation, and are linked to worldly and otherworldly rewards. The worldly reward includes the love of people, their prayers, praises, and commendations, while the otherworldly reward is great and immense.

At the end of the thought, the Sheikh offered some valuable advice, saying: It is obligatory for every Muslim to try as much as possible, if he has good character, to ask Allah Almighty for steadfastness upon it, and if he has character that needs refinement, he should refine himself and return to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), for they are the source of all goodness and happiness in religion, this world, and the Hereafter.
